The CCYR Welcomes Torresella Wine
Posted On: August 8, 2016
Fantastic Italian Wines with a Great Commitment to the Environment August 8, 2016 (MARBLEHEAD, Mass.) – Torresella Winery located in the Veneto Region of Italy, has committed to being the Official Wine Partner for the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta – presented by Officine Panerai. The event is part of the three North American Panerai Classic Yacht Challenges and hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA. The regatta will be sailed on the waters of Massachusetts Bay during the weekend of August 13 & 14. Torresella was founded in 1984 by the Marzotto family, the founders of Santa Margherita. The family has been pioneering in Prosecco and Pinot Grigio production since 1952. They wanted to create a winery that showcased the best of the region- the Veneto- and preserve the fresh, delicate, fruit aromas and characteristics of the finest vineyards of this region, and so Torresella was born. With the expertise in winemaking and the long-standing history and viticulture relationships in the region, Torresella began making Prosecco and Pinot Grigio. The Torresella estate is bordered by the Adriatic to the south, the great Veneto-Friuli plain to the east and west, and Lower Friuli and the Prealps to the north. Just a few kilometers from the vineyard are the Venetian and Marano Lagoons (the former a UNESCO World Heritage Site), with some of the last surviving wetlands in Europe. This area is known for its ideal conditions for grape-growing and mineral-rich soils that bring out elegant, crisp and delicate floral aromas and taste in the wines. Torresella is also proud of its commitment to the environment. Its philosophy is to produce high-quality wines while maximizing environmental sustainability. In tune with their founding commitment to respecting and preserving the environment, ensuring the winery’s history for years to come, they also practice sustainable viticulture and conservation from the vineyard to the bottling line- every step considers environmental impact and energy conservation. In addition, Torresella is vegan-friendly as it does not use any animal bi-products in its winemaking. Vegans, vegetarians and those concerned about allergens can sip freely knowing the only materials used to fine or filter the wines are vegetable and mineral-based. Participants and guests (of legal drink age) of this weekend’s events will be able to sample Torresella’s Prosecco and Pinot Grigio wines at the Friday evenings Officine Panerai Skippers Cocktail Reception, as well as the Saturday evening Fleet Dinner.
